Sehr hilfreich bei der Wiederherstellung der eigenen mühevoll aus verschiedenen Foren zusammengesuchten Konfiguration kann zum einen eine genau Buchführung sein, für welchen Zweck, welche Konfigurationsdatei angepasst wurde. Zum Anderen kann ein Tool wie z.B das Admin-Tool /LINK/ von Itari sehr dabei helfen, auch Linux unerfahrenen Usern zu ermöglichen, alte Dateien wieder herzustellen und zu editieren. Im Bereich Tools ist ein Explorer zu finden, der für unseren Zweck alles bietet.

Eigene Modifikationen vor einem FW Update sichern und nach dem Update wieder herstellen

Bei einem Firmware Update werden viele Dateien des Betriebssystems überschrieben um einen einheitlichen funktionstüchtigen Grundzustand der DS herzustellen und neue Funktionen zu konfigurieren.

Solange die Verwaltung der DS über den DSM (DiskStationManager) erfolgt, ist das kein Problem. Die dort gemachten Einstellungen werden übernommen und können auch manuell über „Management / Sicherung / Sicherung der Systemkonfiguration“ gesichert und bei Bedarf wieder hergestellt werden.

Wenn der Admin etwas tiefer in die Konfiguration einsteigt ist es jedoch notwendig einige manuelle Sicherungen / Wiederherstellungen vorzunehmen.


Vor einem Firmwareupdate auf jeden Fall ein Backup der Systemdaten und auch der Userdaten von „Volume1“ machen. Die Daten auf Volume1 werden beim Firmwareupdate nicht angefasst, aber wer garantiert, das „Volume1“ nach dem Update überhaupt noch ansprechbar ist :)


Sehr hilfreich bei der Wiederherstellung der eigenen mühevoll aus verschiedenen Foren zusammengesuchten Konfiguration kann zum einen eine genau Buchführung sein, für welchen Zweck, welche Konfigurationsdatei angepasst wurde. Zum Anderen kann ein Tool wie z.B das Admin-Tool AdminTool von Itari sehr dabei helfen, auch Linux unerfahrenen Usern zu ermöglichen, alte Dateien wieder herzustellen und zu editieren. Im Bereich Tools ist ein Explorer zu finden, der für unseren Zweck alles bietet.

(Falls es unbedingt die Kommandozeile über Telnet sein muss, empfehle ich „mc“, was in der Funktion dem guten alten NortonCommander für DOSen entspricht. Zu installieren über IPKG


Dateien, die aufgehoben werden sollen, können auf der Kommandozeile nach /volume1/public kopiert werden. Dort sind sie über FTP oder eine Freigabe für Windows PCs verfügbar. Vor dem Update sichern !!

Nach dem Firmwareupdate können die betroffenen Dateien dann z.B. nach /volume1/public/neu kopiert werden, um diese mit den alten zu vergleichen.

Ein Vergleich von Konfigurations(Text)Dateien ist für Windows User mit dem Totalcommander Dateien / Vergleichen nach Inhalt oder dem Tool WinMerge möglich. In beiden Fällen werden die unterschiedlichen Zeilen rot angezeigt und Veränderungen sind damit sehr leicht nach zu verfolgen. WinMerge hat einen größeren Funktionsumfang und kann z.B. die Änderungen gleich von einer Datei in die andere kopieren.


Das Vergleichen der alten und neuen Dateien ist selbstverständlich auch unter Linux direkt auf der DS möglich. Aber Windows und Mac User sind nun mal an eine grafische Bedienoberfläche gewöhnt :)


Sinnvoll ist es auch, sich eine Liste der installierten IPKG Pakete zu machen.


In der folgenden Tabelle sind oft geänderte Konfigurationsdateien und ihre Funktion aufgeführt.

Da nicht jeder User alles mögliche an seiner DS verändert, wird dringend um Ergänzungen gebeten !!
